If you've kept up with me on gigs (mainly online on Twitch) you know I've been streaming full-time for the last few years growing the DreeManaics, soft-launching my Patreon / Ko-fi and working on a NEW single, with a few cool sync placements and live gigs to boot. We really DO need to catch up. And that's my bad. This was all occurring between many other life happenings that make up the trope “Such is life…” But maybe more on all this in a future newsletter??

For the Big Noticias -

My Dree Mon title song “Rebel Soul” can be heard on the new Disney Plus show “X-Men ‘97” around the 26/27 minute mark and it’s uber exciting! (happy dance)

For someone who grew up watching X-Men and who still wants to be Storm when they grow up, this is a dream come true. This disco pop song has been so important to me and the Dree Mon project, and now it's part of the X-Men legacy forever. I was so happy to deliver the news to my co-writer Cameron Tyler who created the amazing track ya'll know today, as well as hired the musicians who added their funky flairs. I penned all the lyrics and melodies and with Cameron's guidance we made magic in the studio. I wrote the lyrics to the song in my car in a Ralph's parking lot, super safe.. NOT, where I would go to get some privacy and do a lot of my thinking and songwriting. Being a rebel was just my natural MO and the song is purely autobiographical. For me, growing up in a slightly different generation kind of between the societal “you must do x to succeed” and the newer “you can do and be whatever you want” motifs - I felt very much like a rebel, just being myself. I wanted to inspire listeners to always be themselves, celebrate their differences and go for their dreams no matter how unconventional. I think the world is finally catching up, and I'm so happy to see it.

You can check out the show on Disney Plus https://www.disneyplus.com/
And also see some clips on my socials: fanlink.to/dreemon

Also:
If you'd like to support me on my gigs and hear great performances & have interactive fun with a loving community, please follow and subscribe yourself to my channel on Twitch

And if you'd like to help me be able to make more great music like this, for only $5 a month you can join my Patreon or Ko-fi (they are the same just different platforms).

Thank you to our resident loving comedic lyricist Brazbit for reminding me to make this post! <3
Dree Montag:dreemonmusic.com,2005:Post/58040182019-06-25T19:39:10-07:002024-03-22T10:58:26-07:00"Put Your Lips Like This"
New Music "Put Your Lips Like This"

When my song "No Chill" came out in 2018, I submitted to many playlists and one curator contacted me about creating some future songs. Turned out he was with Spirit Soul Records of Sweden and we ended up creating "Put Your Lips Like This" which included his artists Sylow and Jako Diaz and my good friend producer and co-writer Shani Rose. I didn't have a good spot to record vocals and Shani was just finishing up a music production program at Cre8 Music academy where I recently graduated as well. We got to use their space and facilities to record! When you don't have means, you have to be resourceful and I'm always amazed at the things I can pull together out of nowhere. It was just by chance that I submitted my music and it was that chance that spawned three new tracks "Put Your Lips Like This" radio edit, extended mix and remix by Alex Hook.
It's true, Dream Venues don't come along all that often. While I love ALL the spots that I play and am ETERNALLY grateful, I think my last dream spot was Hotel Cafe in March and NAMM in January of 2017. Why, because these spots offer us artists a chance to elevate our specific artist projects in front of a room of respectful and eager listeners who truly want to know you and know your music. In a world where being in the background pays my bills whether its being an extra on a tv show, songwriting, or playing music for someone's dinner or wedding, I am used to things not being about me. Which might be funny to hear from an artist, but actually, it's amazing to be part of something bigger than yourself, and all the while do what you love. That being said, I am so honored to be singing with the mega talented Laura Leighe (you may have seen me perform with her once or twice before ;0) at the PEPPERMINT CLUB!!! We'll be doing one of our songwriting collaborations like it's never been done before and I'll be singing on a couple of her other amazing tunes! I am reaching out to you all because this being a true ARTIST show - we need to PACK THE HOUSE! Can I count on your support? If so, please click the link below and grab your pre-sale ticket now :)

Available Today on all Platforms!
New Song K.O. dropped TODAY! 04/19/19

How did this happen you ask? Well, back in the day, I got together with friends and fellow producers (oh yeah ask me about my budding producer-ism career if curious), Chase Rosner (Hotwork) and Evan Blum and heard a track that Hotwork and producer Jeff Herrera had going on and I knew I had to write to it. I came back with the concept/meat & potatoes and we fleshed it out together. Before deciding to release the song, we put it in the hands of a couple of great sync licensing agencies and went on about our busy lives. Much to my delight, Hotwork wanted to push it and get it out to your ears and I couldn't have agreed more. Love when things work out like that, it's a rarity.

This is a sexy little electronic-influenced arrangement called "K.O." (originally "Knock Me Out"). With a groovy drop for a chorus, it is unlike my usual funk-fare. It's a jam for when you're driving late at night, maybe to meet up with someone special, or for when you just wanna zone out for a bit. Let me know what you think!

Hello Dreemers! Happiest and most belated new year to you! I may be a little late on that one, but you know how us artists are right? We go to the beat of our own drum, and we ebb and flow with different areas of our lives, relationships, goals, and things we share creatively. Maybe you can relate? It's tough to stay on schedule when you do a million things - sometimes one goal is furthered and another takes a back burner. That's been my life this month - and even still I have managed to accomplished a few amazing things:

-Finished and self-funded the production of my next and most favorite Dree Mon single and have gotten the mix engineer on deck.
-Completed another song with project Ohjai/Solay that was just signed by Color The Horizon Sync Agency!
-Completed a song with writer/artist Zachary Kibbee and signed that song with Think! Music who I met last year at a music convention.
-Taught my first GROOV3 class, a dance fitness hip hop class for all levels. And it was a freaking PARTY!
-Completed the first of two parts of Sculpt Yoga training at my favorite hot yoga studio Hot 8 Yoga. Yay, so I can make more money for music and make people feel good.
- Learned some much needed piano fundamentals, including some theory and basics that I never learned before!
- Started my music production journey - which will hopefully make me a much more valuable musician and music creator - I am always learning!

On top of that, I'm very excited as I have three new songs in the pipeline that really reflect where I am going next, musically and personally.

Why do I say all this? Cuz even when we are MIA we are doing things - and believe me, I'd love to be performing every day, growing my fan base, promoting my music, writing all the time, creating fundraisers to help me out etc, but I also need to enjoy my life, and that's my theme for today- accomplish your goals and make sure that you are still living in the meantime. Creating the memories that will fuel your passions, song ideas, or get you juiced up and keep you grateful for all that you have and all you are able to do.

Show Tomorrow!

With all that's been going on, I almost forgot that I have a birthday coming up! (Did I really forget tho?) Sooo I'm combining my gig tomorrow at The Slip with a little informal bday celebration and I hope you can make it! And musicians can come and jam with me! I think the best present I could ask for would just be to have your support at my gigs and know that you keep bumping and streaming Dree Mon music as much as you can!

I've always felt a little uncertain about remixes, as it's not always easy to rival an original. Like a movie sequel or an imitation - it can fall flat. Luckily, Iwil collaborated with me on this and truly surpassed what I thought was possible, and really easily, might I add! He totally brought me even more into the nudisco world amongst artists I love like Breakbot and Disclosure and did what a remix should really do, open you up to a new world and open your music up to different listeners. Thank you for taking a chance on me and bringing your funky vision with the heat! Everyone check out the mention on Digital High today - this blog goes to bat for me and has the dankest selection. <3 <3

Coming from a Dance background, Dree was hit by a car during the throws of her high school dancing career and at that point doubted she would ever dance again. Eventually working hard and training her ass off, she got back to dancing and flourished once she was healed up, backing up some big names in music and inspired to work on her own songwriting. This latest pop gem, "Dance Like I Want To" is all about doing what you love your way. This is a constant theme in Dree's music, individuality, being you, no matter what adversities you may face and dropping the facade of being "cool" as she will tell you, she never felt cool, until she did the things that she loved.

Out now on all platforms, "Dance Like I Want To: was Written by Dree Paterson (Mon), Duddy Brown and Josh Collopy (producer), they wanted to infuse Dree's funky style with something ultra modern. She then worked extensively with Producer & Mix/Master Engineer AJ Arroyo to craft the perfect sound. She was jokingly dubbed the "mix police" for her attention to sonic detail during this process. In celebration, a video directed by Kristine May (Rebel Soul, No Chill), with homage-paying visuals a la the Bee Gees, Saturday Night Fever and West Side Story was created with the help of renowned choreographer Saleemah Knight (Lion King, Chris Brown, Beyonce, etc) and Dree Mon's own past professional dance chops.

When Director Kristine May had the idea of doing a one-take, I was honestly scared. I didn't really know what that would look like as someone who loves costume changes and relies on funny reactions due to clever edits. I took a chance to make something perfect and got something perfectly imperfect, just like life, just like me. With the help of choreographer Jaye Fleurant, we created a super fun piece that speaks to the on-going busy lives that we all have on our quest to achieve our dreams, sometimes forgetting that we need a little zen in between. If you have ever freaked out or lost your shit over something seemingly small, you might be able to relate to this song and video! So chill the F out already!

After about a year from meeting my producer Cameron Tyler to conceptualizing "Rebel Soul" it is now available to listen to and bump super loud in your cars! Over the last year we went back and forth over the smallest of musical details, shot a righteous video, started a new project with branding and socials from scratch and tried to figure out how to release a song so that people actually hear it. Today, the stress is aside, it all comes down to this moment when I can sigh in relief and kick up my feet (for a minute) and celebrate that THE debut song from my new project is out TODAY! Halleleuur!

There were many people that helped this thing go down the road and that included the players John Notto (guitars) and Rix Melody (Keys), the mix engineer Brian Moore, and the mastering engineer Reuben Cohen from Lurssen Mastering who all slayed it. Cameron Tyler (producer/co-writer) for creating the muse of a track that started it all, and putting everything together from the players to helping craft this new sound so meticulously. I have to thank my fellow songwriters who have given me feedback along the way, Warren Sellers especially was a sounding board for me during the initial phases and many Durango Songwriter Expo friends gave me needed nods at a time when a song can easily sink into the abyss lost amongst all the many songs that never make it to the studio, let alone the public ears. There is so much more to come and still a lot of work to be done but for right now, I'm gonna enjoy this moment to the fullest! Please head to Itunes and grab a copy of this song and add it to your Spotify/Apple playlists as it becomes available everywhere over the next week.

A first win for Dree Mon, this is an incredible honor and with all the proceeds of the awards and surrounding events going to music education in schools, it couldn't have been a better event to participate in. The night commenced with speeches and featured prolific performers such as season 5 Voice finalist Will Champlin and 16 year old prodigy Anthony Cullins shredding the guitar and bringing the house down. With a few years in tow of doing these awards, not only do they include the best of the best in Riverside County, but now spread far and wide to San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles - incorporating their Best Out of Town category. Formerly going by moniker Dree Paterson, this is a brand new project and sound so a new name was fitting. Screw that noise. Live your passion.
Dree Mon
