Hola lovely DreeManiacs!!!!!
It's been a bit since I've posted here! If you've kept up with me on gigs (mainly online on Twitch) you know I've been streaming full-time for the last few years growing the DreeManaics, soft-launching my Patreon / Ko-fi and working on a NEW single, with a few cool sync placements and live gigs to boot. We really DO need to catch up. And that's my bad. This was all occurring between many other life happenings that make up the trope “Such is life…” But maybe more on all this in a future newsletter??
For the Big Noticias -
My Dree Mon title song “Rebel Soul” can be heard on the new Disney Plus show “X-Men ‘97” around the 26/27 minute mark and it’s uber exciting! (happy dance)
For someone who grew up watching X-Men and who still wants to be Storm when they grow up, this is a dream come true. This disco pop song has been so important to me and the Dree Mon project, and now it's part of the X-Men legacy forever. I was so happy to deliver the news to my co-writer Cameron Tyler who created the amazing track ya'll know today, as well as hired the musicians who added their funky flairs. I penned all the lyrics and melodies and with Cameron's guidance we made magic in the studio. I wrote the lyrics to the song in my car in a Ralph's parking lot, super safe.. NOT, where I would go to get some privacy and do a lot of my thinking and songwriting. Being a rebel was just my natural MO and the song is purely autobiographical. For me, growing up in a slightly different generation kind of between the societal “you must do x to succeed” and the newer “you can do and be whatever you want” motifs - I felt very much like a rebel, just being myself. I wanted to inspire listeners to always be themselves, celebrate their differences and go for their dreams no matter how unconventional. I think the world is finally catching up, and I'm so happy to see it.
